    • In 1984 he had ordered cable tv.
      • He was sitting at home and had 30 channels.
      • Got the Discovery Channel and there was nothing there, just colored bars.
        • Found out that Discovery channel was only an 18 hour channel.
        • Went down and talked to the cable guys and asked to put some products on the channel.
          • Discovered that it wasn’t just the U.S. that had colored bars.
        • Went around the world and filled the air waves with infomercials with zero competition outside the U.S.
        • The company went public and went from $1 to $20 a share.

          • Getting a million unique visitors a month without spending anything on advertising.
        • About five years ago, things started losing revenue because people aren’t watching as much TV and a bunch of other sites began selling.
          • Sold the business for 25x what he bought it for.

      • At what point did Shark Tank reach out to you?
        • It was about 10 years ago.
          • Did Kim Kardashian’s and Paris Hilton’s first commercials.
        • Mark Burnett reached out about Shark Tank.
          • Did the pilot and 175 segments after that.
          • Had been taking pitches for years.
          • Met all the sharks the night before they shot.
          • They are all friends because they are all doing deals with one another.
          • The show became all-consuming.
        • Do you believe that what you know or who you know is more important, and why?
          • Who you know is more important.
          • Kevin graduated with some very smart people, and some have called him for help with their ideas.
          • He has a rolodex of contacts who can get stuff done for him. He doesn’t have to know much because the people he knows can get it done.
        • If you had to focus on one thing about building relationships, what would it be?
          • You should create a dream team around yourself.
          • Surround yourself with operations, finance, digital gurus who can power you to the top.
        • How important have mentorships and masterminds been for you in your career, and why don’t people do it?
          • Kevin has had mentors since he was 11 years old.
          • He just spent $25,000 on a mastermind.
          • Be a little choosy, quality over quantity.
          • People don’t do it because they haven’t experienced the power of it.
