Here’s what Travis and Scott discuss in this episode:

  • About Scott Beebe
    • He liberates small business owners from their chaos.
    • Ambiguity ruled his mind for a long time.
    • He’s gone from working with global brands to small companies, to small business owners exclusively.
  • What is the number one thing you’ve been able to help businesses with?
    • The majority of small business owners don’t know where they’re going.
      • This is a tell-tale sign that they don’t have a vision for their business or family.
    • They ask business owners, do you have a written, articulated vision story of where you’re going?
    • Do you have a structure of team meetings in place so that you, your team, and stakeholders can collaborate on a regular basis?
  • Do you believe that what you know or who you know is more important, and why?
    • What do you bring to the how and the who?
    • We often give strategy responses to capture the moment.
    • Begin to bring the “why,” what drives you out of bed, and the “where,” where are you going?
    • There’s nothing more empty than leaving a conversation with the how and the who.
  • How would you define networking specifically?
    • Networking is a performance stage.
    • The performance is not for your glory, it’s for your service to others.
    • Scott is an introvert but can fool a lot of people into thinking that he’s an expert.
    • Relationships take time, but the challenge for introverts is that you think of what else you could be doing with your time.
  • Tell us about a time when a connection you made led to a moment of success?
    • He reached out to a guy who runs a podcast for architects.
      • He had a neat network of architects from all over.
    • An hour and a half ago he got out of his architect group coaching call.
  • If you had to boil it down to one tip, what would it be?
    • Start with your vision.
    • If you don’t know where you’re going, you’re going to confuse people.
  • Why do you think people fail to establish vision?
    • People like to make things more complicated than they are.
    • They’re embarrassed that they haven’t done it already.

    • Pilot
